Riding Update – Month of August 2018
This summer has been busy meeting with constituents, attending events, and preparing for the upcoming Fall Session.
Over the first weekend of August, I participated in Peers’ annual Gold Dust Daze and Parade, as well as enjoyed a dinner with veterans at the Cadomin Legion.
I spent the majority of the first full week of August in my Edson office. On the Monday, I attended Rochfort Heritage Days in the northeast side of the riding.
At the end of the week, I was honoured to attend the Commemoration of WW1 veteran Sgt. RL Zengel, who was awarded the Victoria Cross 100 years ago for bravery and going above and beyond the call of duty. The service was held at the Legion in Rocky Mountain House on Friday, August 10.
I stayed in Rocky Mountain House over the weekend to attend the Rocky Museum Women of Aspenland Tea and enjoy some time in the community.
In the second week of August, I travelled to several events in the region. On Monday, I was in Mayerthorpe to visit seniors in Pleasant View Manor. On Wednesday, I spent the day in the Edson area touring local facilities with MP Dane Lloyd, who is the Member for the neighbouring constituency of Sturgeon River-Parkland. We toured a coal plant, Camp Warwa, and the new hospital. On Thursday, I was in Thorsby to meet with a constituent. Later that day, I attended Cloverleaf Manor’s Annual BBQ in Warburg.
I spent Friday (August 17) at the Wildwood Summer Fair, and on Saturday I participated in Darwell’s 75th Annual Summer Fair.
Over the third week of August, I was in Halifax for the National Conservative Convention. The final week of the month was spent in the Edson office, meeting with stakeholders and constituents.
The House of Commons will reconvene on September 17. As your voice in Ottawa, I look forward to bringing all of your concerns to the House of Commons in the coming Fall Session.
