Riding Update – Week of April 24, 2017
This week I met with constituents in and around my Edson constituency office, and on Thursday I met with CN Police to discuss the railroad crossing issues in Edson. We are attempting to resolve the problem.
I attended an event hosted at MacEwan University on Friday, where I met with youth and young conservative leaders. I always enjoy meeting with young people with an interest in politics, and sharing with them how they can influence change and serve as productive and thoughtful citizens.
I had the pleasure of attending and speaking at the Royal Canadian Legion’s District 8 Rally, hosted by Edson’s Joe Wynne Branch #51. I am proud of the past contributions of veterans to our freedom and security, as well as the present contributions of legions to our communities.
I also enjoyed the reopening celebration at the Chateau Jasper, a hotel that has been under renovation for the last six months. Tourism is an important part of the local economy in Jasper and the surrounding area, and I am pleased to see investments being made in the region. We are expecting a very busy summer for Jasper Park due to Parks Canada’s free Discovery Pass given out for Canada’s 150th birthday.
I will be heading back to Ottawa on Sunday. My next update will be on the happenings of Parliament, which is reconvening on Monday for the next three weeks.
