Mountain Pine Beetle – What is the Liberal’s Plan?
May 17, 2016
On May 16th, in the House of Commons, Jim Eglinski, Member of Parliament for Yellowhead, asked the Liberal government what their plan was to stop the Mountain Pine Beetle from spreading.
“Mr. Speaker, Jasper National Park, in my riding of Yellowhead, is in trouble. From the west along Mount Robinson to the east park gates, the park has been overtaken by the mountain pine beetle. Local government and forest companies are counting on Parks Canada to stop this epidemic before it moves into Alberta’s west central forest area.
The Liberals say they have a plan, but, as usual, nothing is being done. What is the Liberal plan to stop these evil weevils?”
Again, on May 17th, MP Eglinski asked the following question in the House:
“Mr. Speaker, yesterday in the House, the member opposite said he was more than happy to have a conversation with me about the mountain pine beetle. Unfortunately, on the ground in Alberta, government employees have been told they cannot talk to the local officials about this issue.
Why are the Liberals muzzling scientists and researchers who are critical to this issue?”
