Canada Summer Jobs 2017
April 7, 2017
OTTAWA: Jim Eglinski, Member of Parliament for Yellowhead is pleased to advise that the Canada Summer Jobs program provided $499,141 throughout the riding in investment to support our students.
“I am pleased that students in the riding of Yellowhead will benefit from this program. Summer work experience helps to equip young people with the skills and experience they need to enter the workforce once they have completed their studies,” stated MP Eglinski.
While providing funding to help employers, the program creates summer job opportunities for students. Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) provides funding to not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small business with 50 or fewer employees to create summer job opportunities for young people aged 15 to 30 years who are full-time students intending to return to their studies in the next school year.
This year, Yellowhead is receiving almost double the amount of funding it received in 2015. It will employ 117 students at 44 businesses and organizations throughout the riding.
“This is a worthwhile investment into our local businesses, as well as our students. It is great to see our riding receiving more funding than previous years, and I know it will benefit many,” concluded MP Eglinski.
