Local Athletes Competing in 2017 Canada Summer Games
July 24, 2017
OTTAWA: Jim Eglinski, Member of Parliament for Yellowhead, is excited to cheer on local athletes participating in the 2017 Canada Summer Games. In one week, Winnipeg will host athletes, coaches, and visitors from across Canada who are coming together to take part in our largest domestic multisport event.
“Canada’s next generation of national team members at the Olympic and Paralympic Games often get their start at the Canada Games. This is an exciting opportunity for young competitors to showcase their skills on a national stage,” stated MP Eglinski.
This will be the 50th anniversary of the Games, which are held every two years and alternate between winter and summer events. More than 20,000 visitors are expected to watch the 3,900 athletes, who will participate in 16 sports and more than 250 events from July 28 to August 13.
Five athletes from the riding of Yellowhead will be competing:
