OTTAWA: Jim Eglinski, Member of Parliament for Yellowhead, is pleased to advise his constituents of the following three grants.
The Apprenticeship Incentive Grant for Women (AIG-W):
AIG-W encourages women to enter and succeed in Red Seal trades where they are under-represented. This grant is for $3,000 per year or level, up to a maximum amount of $6,000, to registered apprentices who have successfully completed their first or second year/level of an apprenticeship program in eligible Red Seal trades. This, in combination with the existing Apprenticeship Completion Grant valued at $2,000, could result in combined grant support of up to $8,000 over the course of their training.
Women apprentices who progress in their training on or after April 1, 2018, may be eligible for the new grant.
If you progressed in 2018 your deadline is: June 30, 2019
If you progressed on or after January 1, 2019, your deadline is: 12 months following your date of progression
Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG):
This is a taxable cash grant of $1,000 per year or level, for a lifetime maximum amount of $2,000 per person.
The AIG application deadline is June 30 of the calendar year following the date you progressed in your apprenticeship program. You must complete at least one year or level before applying for this grant.
Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG):
This is a one-time taxable cash grant lifetime amount of $2,000 per person for registered apprentices who complete their apprenticeship training and obtain their journeyperson certification.
The ACG application deadline is June 30 of the year following the year you complete your apprenticeship training program or journeyperson certification in a designated Red Seal trade.
“Supporting the Red Seal trades is essential to building a better future and benefits everyone,” concluded MP Eglinski.
