Call for Concepts – Organizations Working with Victims of Gender-Based Violence
January 18, 2018
OTTAWA: Jim Eglinski, Member of Parliament for Yellowhead, is pleased to inform local residents of funding opportunities available through a “call for concepts” for projects that support survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and their families.
Some populations living in Canada experience disproportionate levels of violence and face challenges to accessing services. These populations include children and youth, Indigenous women, non-status/refugee/immigrant women, seniors, and women living in northern/rural communities.
“Gender-based violence continues to have devastating impacts on Canadian individuals, families and communities. The effects of such violence can be long-lasting and profoundly affect many aspects of a person’s life,” stated MP Eglinski.
Through this call for concepts, targeted funding opportunities will be provided to organizations working in the GBV sector to support population-specific survivors and their families.
The deadline to submit a concept is 12:00 p.m. (PT), on March 1, 2018. Projects can be funded for a period of up to five years, and the maximum funding amount has been increased to $1 million per project.
Organizations can submit an application to the call for concepts by visiting www.women.gc.ca. The direct link is:
“I encourage local organizations, including our women’s shelters, to make a submission for access to these funds,” concluded MP Eglinski.
