April 17, 2019

OTTAWA:  Jim Eglinski, Member of Parliament for Yellowhead, is pleased to inform residents that Transport Canada has announced $16.5 million under the Rail Safety Improvement Program to support 136 new projects and initiatives, including improvements to 104 grade crossings and rail infrastructure across the country.

This will include funding for new projects that focus on Infrastructure, Technology and Research, (ITR) safety improvements on rail property, the use of innovative technologies, research and studies, as well as the closures of grade crossings that present safety concerns.

The deadline for (ITR) projects starting in 2020-2021 is August 1, 2019.

“Rail safety is a top priority in the Yellowhead. These projects and initiatives will contribute to increasing safety at grade crossings and along rail lines,” concluded MP Eglinski.
