MP Eglinski Elected Vice-Chair of ENVI Committee – February 5, 2016

MP Jim Eglinski Elected Vice-Chair of  Environment and Sustainable Development (ENVI) Committee

February 05, 2016

OTTAWA: On February 4th, I was honoured to be elected Vice-Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development.  As Vice-Chair, I will support the Chair of the committee and Chair meetings when necessary.

The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development studies the programs and legislation of Environment Canada, Parks Canada and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency as well as reports of the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development.

This is a very important committee and I am very pleased to have been elected as the Vice-Chair.  In the past I have served as a member of the Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities, as well as on the Citizenship and Immigration Committee.

I am looking forward to my new role as Vice-Chair of the ENVI Committee.   I would also like to congratulate MP Deborah Schulte on her election as Chair and MP Nathan Cullen on his election as Vice-Chair.
