Riding Update – Week of April 25, 2016
Parliament was down for the week, allowing me the opportunity, while in the riding, to attend town council meetings, meet with mayors, as well as local business owners and students.
On Friday, April 22, I attended the Woodlands County Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. I had the pleasure of speaking to two grade nine classes at Holy Redeemer High School on Monday. Following this, I met with members of the RCMP.
I stopped in to say hello to residents in Jasper on Tuesday, and met with two more classes in Grande Cache on Wednesday. Also in Grande Cache, I met with numerous local organizations and later attended the town council meeting.
I spent Thursday in Rocky Mountain House for the grand opening of my new satellite office, as promised during the election campaign. Here I was able to meet with residents from the town and surrounding area, as well as councillors and the mayor. This office will be open Tuesday through Thursday, weekly, to better serve constituents in the south part of Yellowhead.
On Saturday, I attended an event in Sunnybrook for the re-opening of the community hall.
I look forward to returning to Ottawa on Sunday where I will participate in the debate on physician-assisted dying, as the Liberal Government’s Bill C-14 continues at second reading. My next update will be next Friday on my week in Ottawa.
