Become a Canadian Youth Ambassador
September 26, 2017
OTTAWA: MP Eglinski, Member of Parliament for Yellowhead, is pleased to invite youth aged 13-18 from across his riding to apply to the Canadian Youth Ambassador Program, an initiative giving young people from across Canada the tools and opportunity to discover their true potential.
“For many young people, the idea that they can influence decisions made by government seems too abstract, and the issues that engage and concern adults seem both out of reach and, in many cases, irrelevant to their current lives,” stated MP Eglinski. “However, even in their young age, students can influence decisions made by government and become politically active citizens.”
The Youth Ambassador program is a public-private partnership to inspire youth from coast-to- coast-to-coast to think ‘future forward’ by identifying a specific issue in their local community and propose an idea on how to address it.
Thirty Canadian Youth Ambassadors will be selected and given the opportunity to travel internationally to learn more about their place in the world. This year, Youth Ambassadors will travel to Ecuador and learn about environmental issues, visit indigenous communities, and participate in service learning activities. They will also reconvene in Ottawa to meet with MPs and present their action plans.
Applications open September 28, 2017 and will close on November 13, 2017.
“I encourage all youth interested in exploring and solving issues pertinent to their own communities to apply to the Canadian Youth Ambassador Program. I think some young people would be surprised how much they can influence change and serve as thoughtful citizens,” concluded MP Eglinski.
