Persons Case Awards 2017 – Call For Nominations
May 3, 2017
OTTAWA – Jim Eglinski, Member of Parliament for Yellowhead, is pleased to invite residents to submit nominations for the 2017 Governor General’s Awards in Commemoration of the Persons Case. Each year, these awards recognize five individuals, including youth, who have made outstanding contributions in the pursuit of gender equality in Canada.
Gender equality includes the opportunity to participate in democratic and public life, the opportunity to achieve economic security and the opportunity to live free from violence.
“Recognizing the achievements of individuals that are helping to advance gender equality is essential as their successes can inspire others to make a difference,” stated MP Eglinski.
While nominations are accepted all year, the deadline for nominating someone for the 2017 awards is July 3. To learn more, visit the Status of Women Canada website, which includes a list of past recipients, videos, and the nomination package (www.swc-cfc.gc.ca).
“In Yellowhead, we know that equality matters – for our economy, for our families, and for our society. I encourage constituents to nominate a neighbour, colleague, or friend for a Persons Case Award,” concluded MP Eglinski.
