Support Our Veterans!
February 2, 2018
OTTAWA: Today, February 2, Jim Eglinski, Member of Parliament for Yellowhead, gave the following statement in the House on the Prime Minister’s refusal to keep his promise and provide funding for injured veterans.
“Mr. Speaker, last night at a town hall meeting in Edmonton the Prime Minister said his government is fighting some Canadian veterans in court because they are asking for more money than the federal government can afford.
Mr. Speaker, our veterans put their lives on the line to give Canadians the freedom we enjoy, whether it was World War I, II or any other conflicts our troops are sent into.
If any of our Veterans are injured, resulting in a disability, we MUST ensure they continue to have a quality of life they so richly deserve.
If this Liberal government can spend 10 million dollars for Khadr and install a rink on Parliament Hill for 5.5 million dollars, then why are they treating our veterans so poorly?
Remember, Mr. Speaker, they fought for us! We owe them!”
